Okay, I take back everything I said. Now that we're moved in, I really like it. We still need to unpack boxes and hang stuff, but it's so much better than I imagined earlier this week.
On Friday, we had a garage sale. In the rain. We made $2 by selling two books. Thankfully, there's a yard sale in our apartment complex next weekend so hopefully we can get rid of more stuff (making some extra money would be nice too).
On Saturday, we rented a 17' UHaul and packed it to the hilt. Or rather, the guys and Jenn packed it full. Jonathan and his dad organized the things in the truck. Someone remarked that it was akin to playing Tetris. Some of Jonathan's friends came, as did some of mine, including
Tim223. The guys and Jenn diligently carried heavy boxes and three recliners (yes, three!). I am so grateful to them for their hard work!
Jonathan's mom, Jenn and Andrew (Jonathan's friend; he's dating Jenn), and I stayed back after the guys left with the UHaul for the new apartment. We cleaned for several hours, then headed to the new apartment.
It was so nice to arrive and see the truck was empty. The dressers were in place, and the bed was set up (very important!!). We rearranged the living room, and it started to look like home. The living room is pretty much set up and unpacked; we just need to hang the decorations. The kitchen needs to be unpacked, and I'm still convinced it's small, but I'm glad to be here.
God is awesome. He blessed us with our first apartment. I can't wait to see the blessings He has for us here.

Yay!! I'm so glad to hear that you're already happy to be in the new place.
I'm glad you are settling in. I know how stressful moving is, but it is always nice to be able to start making your home in your new place. Sounds like you have already started that.
good point about definitions of 'afford'... thanks! hope things are well with you two!
